Are Neuromodulators Safe?
Xeomin and Dysport are FDA-approved for temporary aesthetic treatment of movement-induced facial wrinkles and lines in adults. In addition to cosmetic uses, it offers an array of medical applications and can be administered to reduce excessive sweating, neck bands, an enlarged jawline, and TMJ pain. When used as an aesthetic treatment, small quantities of Xeomin are injected into specific muscles to allow for relaxation.
Which is Better - Xeomin, BOTOX, or Dysport?
All neuromodulators (BOTOX, Dysport, & Xeomin) contain an active ingredient that when injected acts to smooth away wrinkles and revitalize skin over time. However, Xeomin is a uniquely purified neurotoxin and is considered to be the PUREST injectable neuromodulator on the market. Xeomin provides a “naked” advantage in that other than the active ingredient, there are no additional complexing proteins in the injectable product. This is critical as unnecessary proteins may lead to the development of neuromodulator-specific antibodies, which result in product tolerance and resistance – rendering further treatment ineffective.
HOW ARE NEUROMODULATOR TREATMENTS PERFORMED?
At Givens Facial Plastic Surgery in Austin, Xeomin & Dysport injections take only a few minutes to complete. You will feel the pinch of the needle and gentle pressure, which is very tolerable to experience. Once the product is injected, your treatment is complete, and you are free to return to your regular activities.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS AFTER NEUROMODULATOR TREATMENT?
Neuromodulators require several days for the smoothing effect to appear, although you usually see the initial changes at about 72 hours. Two weeks may be needed for the full effect to appear. Xeomin can produce a complete smoothing effect for approximately three to four months, varying from person to person.
